Mahama turns 60 today


Former President John Dramani Mahama turns 60 years today, Thursday, 29 November 2016.

Mr Mahama was elected president in the 2012 polls.

He served as vice-president from 2009 to 2012 and took office as president on 24 July 2012 following the death of his predecessor John Atta Mills.

He was elected to serve his first term as president in the December 2012 election.

Prior to becoming vice-president, Mr Mahama was a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2009 and Minister of Communications from 1998 to 2001.

He lost the 2016 election to the current president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mr Mahama is seeking re-election from delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to become the party’s flag bearer for the 2020 elections.
