Voter’s on the voter’s register have been urged to assist in the removing of “ghost” names from the electoral register.
Electoral Commission (EC) Boss at Techiman South in the Brong Ahafo region,Mr Wahid Saed speaking on Dinpa 91.3 fm said the removal of ghost names is key in calculating the total number of persons on the register which would be instrumental in the upcoming referendum.
“When calculating the percentage of voters it would include names of dead persons on the register and every decision taken during the referendum, they are considered to have taken part” he added.
Mr Saed disclosed that a letter has been written to the municipal Assembly to assist them in the publicity.
“We are going round with our van and telling people to come out and check their names. We are also appealing to the Assembly and unit committee members to educate their people on the need to check their names” he noted.
The exhibition exercise which starts October 25 to October 31, 2018 will take place in all the 172 polling stations in the Techiman Municipality.
It follows the limited registration excercise carried out by the Commssion in the referendum enclave.
Mr Saed called on all to patronise the exercise as it is one of the poorly patronised EC exercise.
