C/R: KEEA floods displace hundreds

A four-hour downpour has resulted in floods that have destroyed property and rendered hundreds homeless at Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) municipality in the Central Region.

The knee-level floods, on Thursday, 12 October 2018 destroyed gadgets and other items in people’s homes.

Some farmers in the district are also counting their losses, as their crops were not spared the destruction.

The Municipal Chief Executive of KEEA, Nana Appiah Korang, told the media that the Assembly will reconstruct some of the drains in the area and organise a communal labour to desilt them.

“I’m very much saddened; it was a very terrible scene, so many things have been destroyed including mattresses etc. I went to houses where the children’s books have all been destroyed

“My advice to the people is that they should change their behaviour, they should stop dumping refuse in the drains,” he explained.
