Michael Essien looking forward to Indonesian ‘experience’
Newly signed Persib Bandung midfielder, Michael Essien is already looking forward to making his mark with the Indonesian club when the season begins.
Essien joined the Indonesian club on a free transfer earlier in March, but has had to wait for his unveiling following a late schedule for the start of the league.
The midfielder was finally unveiled on Thursday, with fans of the club given the chance to see their new signing.
And the former Chelsea and AC Milan anchorman has iterated his readiness ahead of the start of the league season.
The 34-year-old was mobbed at the airport upon arrival inIndonesia by a huge fan base, and he insists his sole focus is to take the club to new heights.

“I’m happy to be here. You know I came here before and I saw the fans and everyone at the club has been nice to me. So I’m happy,”Essien told the club’s YouTube channel.
“The trip [to Indonesia] is okay; it is very far though. But I made it, so I am happy.
“I don’t know very much [about the Indonesian league], but I am here to experience it. So I am looking forward to the league here [in Indonesia], and hopefully Bandung will do something this year.”
